As the new year has come we've been forced to find new studio digs. Renovation ain't cheap, help us make practising in a band affordable in this city by celebrating the joy of rehearsed music at Double Double Land!
A TWO NIGHT FUNDRAISER featuring:
Night One –SATURDAY MARCH 31
HUCKLEBERRY FRIENDS: Halfway reclusive ladies make medieval cave pop for the new millennium. Come see this rare sighting before they disappear into a cloud of fog.
SLIM TWIG: Recently re-birthed in band form (the name still referencing a man, as it would make for a terrible group name) and shocking audiences as a direct pop force. A delectable after dinner candy in a wrapper fused from the sands of hevvy psych, prog, kraut & pop.
FIVER: A fusion of Simones, this new combo features members of One Hundred Dollars with the mighty Bonhamesque stick handling of Tropics' Simone. For fans of: real talk, real tunes, real musicianship etc...
SOCIETY PROBLEM: Tim Westberg, a pop genius. A man of the order Davies, bassman and co-crooner in Slim Twig, lifetime punk. Hear him split the difference between Nilsson and Crass.
Night Two – SUNDAY APRIL 1
U.S. GIRLS: Philly Soul of the new millennium. The aural equivalent of an abused collage representation of the Supremes that has been crumpled in your wallet too long. Perhaps the best R n' B singer in the world excluding Adele.
CARL DIDUR: Outsider synth n' tape loop prodigy. A quietly caped spectacle, Toronto's own re-appropriator of legacy avant acts of all stripe.
TROPICS: Chunky punk. Metallic stones being rolled down rubber mountains. High velocity hitmakers.
ONAKABAZIEN: Dollar bin genius. Since Madlib has dipped come hail the new loop diggah, producer to the stars. Visionary psychedelia for the new world via Value Village thriftiness.
ACTUAL WATER: Paisley coated Burberry fetishists. Sassy musicians wanted-ad rock. Fraternal soft sike for fashionable people.
