Maybe you read already, but this past week 'GEM' was released... an album I produced, mixed and co-wrote on.
I just wanted to leave a note on here saying that if you have found yourself on these pages due to an interest in the music I create you should really check out this album.
I have long had the aspiration to be a producer. I have long fetishized those parts played by Joe Meek, Tony Visconti, Jeff Lynne et all. I never thought this vision might be achievable until I met Meghan, who has given me confidence in many ways - not least of all the confidence to proclaim myself a 'producer' in an age where just about everyone can cavalierly pronounce it so.* Although we worked together on U.S. Girls on Kraak, it is only with GEM that I feel I have earned this credit...
This is all of course to say nothing of the beautiful work of the authoress. Meghan approaches her craft with an honesty and a purposefulness that is a rare and functional pleasure. If you let it, this album will move you.
(On a side note, that cover photo is of course the lovely LuLu - quickly becoming an indispensable U.S. Girl herself).
GEM.
*I mean this with all modesty, as I certainly do not compare myself to those older Gods just yet.
